Kelsey Newman is a Java developer on the UCX development team. She is responsible for aiding in the development, testing and release of new features to market. She also strives to continually expand her knowledge in her role as a developer by exploring new technologies and taking on challenging projects.
Kelsey graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2013 with a BA in Sociology and Criminal Justice. After graduating, she spent some time doing criminological research for the Background Investigation Bureau, where she received several awards for productivity and going above and beyond for the client. After two years at BIB, however, she developed an interest in programming and decided to pursue this interest by joining the backend engineering with Java cohort at The Iron Yard in Charlotte. After completing this course, she was offered a position and began her career as a developer at UCX.
In her spare time, Kelsey enjoys spending time with her friends and family, getting involved in the tech community through MeetUps and crash courses, and helping out at her family farm in Charlotte.
