In his blog “The Data Center as a Commodity” written back in February http://www.itbusinessedge.com/blogs/infrastructure/the-data-center-as-a-commodity.html, Arthur Cole writes about the evolution of the cloud and the migration of corporations from private to public cloud and asks; “So where does this leave the enterprise? Is it doomed to sit on legacy infrastructure until it is almost worthless, and then be stuck with the decommissioning and disposal costs?” This is the question more and more boards will face in the coming years. The bottom line is that through UCX both price discovery and risk management will is available for global corporations. Both from an aspect of procurement and yield management, an entire IT department can be transformed within months. Thanks to the markets created by UCX there will never be a need to be sitting on ‘legacy infrastructure’ or be stuck with ‘disposable costs’ ever again!

The commoditization of the data center is a reality and Universal Compute Xchange finds itself as the tool by which CFO’s will be able to manage costs and risks associated with the growing business dependence on the cloud. With IT spending growing at an astronomical rate, the market will be in the trillions of dollars. What was ‘cutting edge technology’ a few years ago will be the largest new asset group for commodities in less than a decade.
